The Citizens' Coalition is comprised of residents, business owners, local non-profits, and industry groups from all over Asheville, NC who aim to preserve the preferred design of the I-26 Connector project in lieu of the recently accepted flyover design. While we acknowledge rising construction costs, we strongly believe there are solutions to be considered that preserve the thoughtful design and decades of public engagement leading up to the final procurement process.

By signing the petition and emailing local officials, we are taking action to hold our elected officials accountable and preserve the future urban landscape of West Asheville.

The Citizens' Coalition is taking steps to engage at all levels of government and multiple project stakeholders, including NCDOT.​

Our goal is to collaborate and find solutions that yield the best overall outcome for the residents who will live with this design for decades to come, instead of vehicular passengers who will enjoy the connector for approximately 5 minutes in transit.
