We must band together to hold our elected officials accountable for accepting this significant design change. To be clear, the Coalition supports the I-26 Connector project which will alleviate traffic and safety concerns, but the decades of feedback and thoughtful design are being discarded to save on initial construction costs. Behind closed doors, NCDOT allowed the lowest bidder to incorporate this once-refuted design into their proposal. This significant design change in conjunction with Hurricane Helene warrants further conversation.
