Origin Story

It all began with a few friends grabbing drinks and catching up at the Low Down.

"Did you hear about the new plans for the highway coming through West Asheville?"

While we were aware of the I-26 Connector, this was a week or two after the AVL Watchdog article came out. Suddenly the group chat exploded with links being sent back and forth with the sentiment of "can you believe this?".

Followed by, "what can we do?"

If you are of legal drinking age, the Low Down has the best dirty martini in Asheville!

Asheville residents, Dori Darras and Rachel Murdaugh, along with the support of a few friends + colleagues got to work.

Rachel is a local architect, member of the Outreach Committee for the AIA Western North Carolina Chapter, and Co-Chair of the AIA WNC Advocacy Committee.

Dori is a local Operations Manager for an insurtech startup in the renewable energy space with a background in engineering and project management.
